Workshop Description:

In this workshop, we will describe how candidates can use the Academic Career Readiness Assessment (ACRA) Framework to strategically tailor their Research, Teaching, and Diversity statements to R1 institutions. Participants will use the ACRA Framework to analyze sample materials and suggest ways in which they think the materials can be improved.

The ACRA Framework was developed with the input from faculty members at diverse types of institutions, with the support of a Burroughs Wellcome Fund grant.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • List the most important skills required for Research, Teaching, and Diversity statements targeting R1 institutions

  • Describe the most important sections in a Research, Teaching, and Diversity statements for R1 institutions

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of a Research, Teaching, and Diversity statement sample
